Well, this is rather exciting. Ford just announced they were caving on their “4 pots only” rule for the Fusion in a rather emphatic way: A new AWD Sport version is coming with a twin-snail setup yielding 325HP and 350 pounds of twist. I need to drive this.

Hrm. Makes me wonder what they’re going to do with the SHO, or if they’ll neuter performance in the Fusion Sport so it doesn’t outpace the SHO in testing.

Do want. Just not in that particular color.

and the last piece to the puzzle..

Maybe the 325HP
is
the neutered number?
Or maybe the SHO will come in at over 400? >:)

I thought the Taurus was basically dead except in China? Have they decided to keep it going? I like the car well enough but I could never purchase one because that gargantuan center console hits my leg.

It’s about time. The one and only reason they haven’t done it sooner was to give Lincoln an exclusive on a V6 model.

It seems I’m the last to know that, yes they’ll be sending them to China now and leave us with the Fusion, which means Ford doesn’t have anything to properly compete with the Impala or Charger.

I’ve known about it for a while and I’ve been pretty giddy keeping in the secret.
I get the feeling that car is going to be FUN AS HELL to drive

It’s too bad too since with a redesign of the interior I think it could be a winner. It was just too large of a car to have that little interior space. Thank the platform they used for that one, I guess.

So maybe this shows that I’m superficial, but the thing I’m happiest about is that they redid the rear of the car. I felt the tail lights let down the entire look of that car. Not perfect now, but much better.

Honda runs an Accord safety car in IndyCar that makes over 400 horsepower. If this sells well, that would mean the performane-oriented midsize sedan has a market here, and the Accord Type-R will be born!

Agreed. I didn’t hate the rear facade but I didn’t like it, either.

Then Ford comes out with a 425+hp Fusion SHO and the glorious Midsize Sedan Horsepower War of Early 21st Century begins!

Biggest problem is that I couldn’t tell it from a Focus in traffic without a second look. Not good for model differentiation.

That’s when the fight goes to Lincoln and Acura, and all of a sudden it’s TLR vs MKR.

but the already make V6 Fusion. with the 3.7l from a Mustang

Meh, that’s never been a problem for Mercedes.

Yeah, maybe that’s just a problem for me, but the convergence of Mercedes exterior styling is really getting me down.

That’s not a twin turbo ;)

Isn't that their goal? All sharing similar looks, just different sizing?

Maybe it is. In my mind, that’s a bad thing, but maybe some people see it as a plus.
